Well, I finally bit the outsourcing bullet and they said it would never happen! “They” were wrong.
I’ve been an independent thinker, a self-starter, and as stubborn as nails my whole life and now I’m singing my own version of that classic tune by The Temptations – “Ain’t Too Proud to Beg”.
Since I came online about three years ago, I’ve been the epitome of a “solo” professional – meaning I’ve done all the work myself. After all, I’m not only stubborn, I’m a very proud person, too – not to mention that I also suffer from perfectionism.
One fine day I was inspired to design my own business logo. How hard could THAT possibly be? Well, I found out. It wasn’t hard – it was miserably impossible!
I won’t bore you with all the failed attempts, weeks of frustration, or how often I was beating my head against the wall every time I logged in to Photoshop. I’m convinced that site was not designed for regular, normal people.
Lucky for me, I met Michelle Shaeffer. We bumped into one another during a 30-day blogging challenge. I’ve been reading her blog posts and checking out everything she offers and I’m very impressed.
As we speak, Michelle is designing a logo for me. What a relief! I know she’s a Mompreneur who pays attention to detail and does her best to meet her customer’s needs.
I’m excited and can’t wait to see my logo!
If you’re spending all your time doing every single business-related task yourself, you’re most likely as exhausted as I was.
Take it from me – you’ll actually become more productive by doing the business-building activities you really love and outsourcing the rest.

It’s true! Outsourcing is actually the bestfriend of every business minded person. Delegation is important so they could focus on the most important aspect of their business.

Good point, Samantha!
Outsourcing is all about putting your “trust” in someone else and having faith their skills and talents will produce the desired results you’re looking for.
Thanks for your feedback!

For business owners, Outsourcing can make their lives easy. Like most discussions about handling businesses, an owner must learn how to delegate task in order for him to move forward with some important details of the business. Just like when he needs to deal other business aspect within a managerial position. Owner doesn’t need to be an expert in all areas, he just need to know the basic and trust others for it.

Outsourcing is a hard choice for me too. It is the perfection thing. But I have been lucky, my sister is a designer and knows photoshop. She does my ebook covers and did my blog icons and headline. We make great online partners.
Looking forward to seeing your logo.

Hey Sheila ~
Sounds like your sister is someone I should get to know!
I truly envy and admire people with any kind of artistic talent. I’ve come to accept the fact that I can’t draw a straight line with a ruler! 🙂

Hi Melanie:
Look forward to seeing your logo. Learning to give up control is a beautiful thing and sometimes we are not able do everything all by ourselves. Although it would be awesome to clone ourselves then we are able to get more things done in a day which is not likely. Delegating projects to others is key.

Cloning. Now there’s an idea, Jane! If only we could. 🙂
For me, I think this is more of a matter of pride than anything else, especially since I tried so hard to design a logo myself … and the process was difficult and graphic design is NOT my cup of tea.
I love what Gwen said — I’m just “shopping”. After all, I wouldn’t make my own shoes, would I?!
Delegation. My new best buddy. 🙂

Melanie, you aren’t giving a project to someone else, you are buying a service. There is definitely such a thing as logo shopping!! Just like you would buy a pair of shoes. Now, would you make your own shoes?
Have fun with logo shopping! LOL

I feel better already. Good point. NO, I wouldn’t make my own shoes. 🙂

You know, Bobbye, it just about killed me to give over a project to someone else! No sense pulling any punches about it. But once I crossed over that line of resistance and apprehension, it felt like a huge weight had been lifted from my shoulders.
It takes us stubborn DIY-ers a long time to come to our senses and listen to the voice of reason! 🙂
Much love,
Melanie
