• Hi Melanie,

Thanks for the formal invite, but I am a daring guy and probably would have visited and commented anyway. I would like to point out a strategy that you used, “Catchy Post Title”. Since I use CommentLuv and you left me a comment I could see the title of your latest post on my blog. When I Saw the title I was intrigued and just had to see what you were writing about.

I just wanted to share that illustration with our fellow blog challengers so they can observe and learn for your genius. Thanks so much for your invite.

    All the best,
    Kevin

    • Kevin ~

You delight my heart. If we were standing in the same room right now, I would shake your hand. Thank you for your gracious words and your beautiful compliment!

You are a true professional. So let us share the genius. 🙂

This 30-day blogging challenge is so much more than an event. To me, it is “outreach” at its best.

So happy to find you on my doorstep,
      Melanie

  • Hi Melanie,

Thx for the welcome matt. 🙂 Seeing the “mom” word doesn’t scare me off… I think it’s a great niche to focus on!!

I’m looking forward to great reads on your blog.

    • So nice of you to stick around and read two of my posts, Henry. Thank you!

I’m relieved to know the target audience that I serve doesn’t scare you off. 🙂

      See you in the blogosphere,
      Melanie

  • I have noticed how many women are in the Blog 30 Challenge compared to men. I have to say… I really enjoy a woman’s point of view in this business. I think we sometimes see things differently and can add good things to the internet marketing mix. There is certainly an advantage in having a good mix of both men and women… the best of both worlds.

    • Quite a valid point, Kathryn! Thank you.

Yes, I’m enjoying the mix of guys and gals in the challenge, too. I decided to do the “Men Are Welcome” post for clarification. I knew some of the gentlemen from the previous blogging challenge would stop by. But I wanted to be sure to let the new guys on the block know they are welcome.

Looking forward to reading more from YOU,
      Melanie

  • Hey Danna ~

How nice to see you back at my blog again! A few other folks have shared similar stories with me about having something online that’s geared toward the ladies or “mom-related”. In your case, you handled this issue perfectly since you also have the Power Selling Dad site. Great idea to be able to direct people from one to the other!

Before you know it, we’ll be finished with the first week of the challenge. Trust me, this thing speeds by really fast so enjoy the ride!

    Melanie

  • Great idea for the clarification! I felt the need to do the same with (http://PowerSellingMom.com) I always let dad’s know they are welcome too and I encourage them to check out: (http://PowerSellingDad.com) Then they will see that Power Selling Dad always leads to Mom!

  • Thanks again, Melanie! 🙂

  • Angie (Cool, now I know your nickname!)

Thanks so much for sharing your story and your experience in having a “mom” site. My target market is clearly single mom entreprenuers, but during the blogging challenge I want to make sure the guys don’t shy away or ignore me. 🙂

Really, really enjoyed your post today on “The Skeptic”!

    Melanie

  • Melanie,
I experienced a very similar phenomenon when I created The WM Freelance Connection (http://thewmfreelanceconnection.com). When my partner, Alyssa, and I originally set up the site, we called it “Writing Mommies” because we both happened to BE mommies–but we weren’t writing for JUST mommies. After awhile, we changed the name to The WM Freelance Connection, and the prejudice we experienced with the “mommy” name was significantly reduced. It’s really crazy how that happens lol, but good for you for clarifying your mission!

    Great post! 🙂

@MelanieKissell Well thanks for the open door policy. I left you a comment but….. #blog30

    • @TheHighRoad LOL are you still having problems with aksimet blocking you? 🙂

      • Gwen,

Just read your note to Vernon (The High Road). He hasn’t been able to post any comments on my blog. For some reason, he’s getting “blocked”. No one else has reported this problem to me. Have any ideas? Maybe Deb Augur can figure this out. ??
